LEWISTON – Carmen B. Theriault, 82, of Lewiston, died peacefully Saturday, June 17, with her family at her side at d’Youville Pavilion.
Born in Berlin, N.H., on April 26, 1924, a daughter of the late Alphonse and Lumina (Rousseau) Bernier, Carmen was married to Raymond L. Theriault, the love of her life, for more than 55 years.
Besides raising her children, she was employed in the women’s clothing industry. Carmen enjoyed cooking and was well known in the community for entertaining family, friends and her husband’s business associates at their home on Wood Street in Lewiston.
She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary and St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Though she suffered from her own ailments, she spent much of her time in her later years caring for and nurturing her husband, who had become disabled due to a construction accident at the family-owned business, Lewiston Crushed Stone.
Carmen is survived by her husband, Raymond; her sons, Denis and his wife, Lena, of Lewiston and Marc and his companion, Lisa Davis, of Greene; and one grandchild, Matthew R. Theriault of Lewiston.
She was predeceased by her infant son, Denis; and one sister, Emily Bernier.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Kappelmann and the entire staff at d’Youville Pavilion for the outstanding care and compassion afforded Carmen in her last days.
