FARMINGTON – Marjorie Catherine (Maskill) Corey, 80, of Farmington, died Thursday, June 8, at her home.

She was born Sept. 12, 1925, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of William J. Maskill and Mary F. (Flynn), and the granddaughter of Michael Maskill and Margaret (Connery), both immigrants of Waterford, Ireland, who settled in New York City, N.Y., in the late 1880s.

She was born in Boston, Mass.; later her family moved to Dorchester, Mass. She worked at the A & P Supermarket which is where she met Horace A. Corey. They married in 1947 and celebrated 55 years together. She was a past member of the ladies auxiliary in the American Legion and she was a past chaplain of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Halifax, Mass.

In 1986 she and her husband retired in Maine to be closer to her daughter, Marjorie Strang, and family. They lived in Chesterville for 13 years and later moved to Farmington in 1999. She was a church member at St. Joseph’s in Farmington. She enjoyed sightseeing in Maine, activities at the Senior Plus in Wilton, spending time with her grandchildren, and her favorite pastime, bingo on Wednesday afternoons with the ladies at Deer Crossing Apartments in Farmington.

She is survived by her two daughters and one son, Kathleen M. (Corey) Reed and her husband, Fred Reed, of Winthrop, Marjorie F. (Corey) Strang and her husband, John L. Strang, of Portland, Lawrence W. Corey and his wife, Rena Vogel, of Reston, Va.; grandchildren, Erin M. (Strang) McArthur and Clifford McArthur, Jessie L. and Stacy A. Strang, Timothy E., Abigail M., Daniel I., Benjamin M., Rebecca K., and Sarah E. Corey; two great-grandchildren, Dakota and Caleb McArthur; and her brother, Lawrence W. Maskill.
