LEWISTON – Rita R. Halloran, 84, passed away on Monday, March 20, at d’Youville Pavilion after a lengthy stay.

She was born March 20, 1922, in Cambridge, Mass., the daughter of James F. and Rebecca F. (O’Donnell) Butler. She was a native of Cambridge, Mass., but spent all of her summers at Bear Pond in North Turner.

She attended the Blessed Sacrament School and Cambridge High and Latin. On July 22, 1944, in Cambridge, she married James F. Halloran. Mr. Halloran passed away July 6, 1983.

In 1981, she and her husband moved to Turner and then in 2000, she moved to Churchill Road in Leeds. She was a homemaker and also worked as an office manager and accounts payable bookkeeper for the Wm. S. Simpson and Sons in Cambridge.

She was a charter member of the Blessed Sacrament Parish Drill Team in Cambridge and a communicant at St. Philip’s Church in Auburn. She volunteered her time to read to students at the Leeds Central School and also volunteered on bingo nights for many years at Boofy Quimby Hall in Turner. She enjoyed going to local restaurants. Although she was born and raised in Cambridge, Maine was home to her.

She is survived by three daughters, Maureen R. Siglow of Leeds, Emily R. Libby and her husband, Roger, of Leeds and Rita F. DiFraia and her husband, Anthony, of Billerica, Mass.; four grandsons, Jay Sinclair of South Carolina, James Siglow of Lewiston, Mark DiFraia of Billerica, Mass. and Greg DiFraia of Providence, R.I.; two granddaughters, Christina Siglow of Phoenix, Ariz. and Erin-Margaret Libby of Old Town; two great-granddaughters, Bess Curtis of Turner and Olivia DiFraia of Billerica, Mass.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Butler of East Boston, Mass. and Helen Smith of Florida; also many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother and father; a sister, Emily Murphy; and a brother, James Butler.
