AUBURN – Rebecca B. “Reba” Koss, 102, and formerly of 15 Colonial Way, died peacefully Thursday, March 16, at Clover Living Center, 440 Minot Ave. in Auburn.

She was born Oct. 8, 1903, the daughter of Simon and Bessie Barr in New Bedford, Mass. She was educated in New Bedford and worked as a bookkeeper there prior to her marriage to Joseph Koss. They moved to Auburn in 1929, where she resided as a housewife and raised her family.

She was a member of the Beth Abraham Synagogue, Hadassah, B’nai B’rith, and was a volunteer at CMMC and St. Mary’s hospitals. She loved gardening at her home at Pine Point and on Nottingham Road in Auburn.

She also loved cooking for large family gatherings. Her blueberry muffins were a special favorite for her many friends and family. She was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed collecting antiques. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Selma Holtz of Waban, Mass., Edward Koss and his wife, Gladys and Herbert Koss and his wife, Shirley, all of Lewiston; seven grandchildren, Herbert and Jane Holtz, Charles and Jeffrey Koss, Bonnie Wilson, and Peter Koss and Linda Grosser; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Koss in 1978; her brothers, Arthur and Louis Barr; and her sisters, Anne Barr and Rose Feinstein.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Clover Living Center for the care she received during her time there.
