Worcester, Mass. – Katherine Bourisk, 96, formerly of Lewiston, died on Wednesday, March 1, in her home after an illness.

She was born in Ayeeta El-Fookyah, Lebanon, Feb. 20, 1910, the daughter of Mike and Mary (Emary) Bourisk. She immigrated to the United States in 1937, and resided in Lewiston, for 60 years before moving to Worcester in 1997.

For many years she worked as a self-employed seamstress and clothes designer. She also taught in the Lewiston public school system, as well as Bates College, and the University of Oregon. She was an active member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral and it’s women’s club, and a member of the Eastern Star Rebecca Lodge in Lewiston.

She leaves several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by six brothers, George, John, Nelson, Elias I., Spirydon, and Elias II Bourisk; and two sisters, Jenny Bourisk and Annie Peters.
