FORT MYERS, Fla. – Carrol Dwight Davis, 85, of Fort Myers passed away Thursday, Feb. 23.

He was born in Solon, on June 20, 1920, the son of Tilden T. and Marzie B. Davis, and survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Kerstral “Kay” S. Davis.

He graduated from Solon High in 1937 and next attended Coburn Classical Institute. His next four years were spent at the University of Maine, graduating in 1942 with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a member of Phi Mu Delta and the Scabbard & Blade Society of the R.O.T.C.

He enjoyed sports and excelled in baseball during his school years. Next came World War II, where he reached the grade of Captain, serving overseas in the Middle East. Leaving the service in 1946, he joined the W.T. Grant Co. and held various management positions, retiring in 1976. He then joined Court Mgt. in Westfield, Mass., and was also a real estate appraiser with many Westfield area banks. He retired in 1998 and moved to Florida in 2003.

Surviving, besides his loving wife, Kay, are his son, Larry, and his wife, Donna, who work and reside in Melbourne, Australia and who also have a home in Fort Myers; brother, Clayton and his wife, Margaret, who reside in Augusta; Carrol’s grandson, Scott and his wife, Temple and great-grandchildren, Annie and Lindsey, who all reside in Chicago; and many nieces and nephews.
