RUMFORD – Arthur J. LaMontagne Jr., 73, a resident of East Dixfield, died unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 23, at Rumford Community Hospital.

He was born on Dec. 26, 1932, in Sanford, the son of Arthur Sr. and Florence Chaplin LaMontagne. He attended Kennebunk High School.

On Dec. 11, 1956, he married Joan M. Seymour in Lewiston. They were married 48 years before her death on Aug. 2, 2003. He was a truck driver for 40 years, working at DeCoster Egg Farms and North American and Dean Van Lines, retiring in 1987. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.

He is survived by three sons and their wives, Roland and Louise Fortin, of Greene, Arthur and Debbie LaMontagne, of Otisfield and Dennis and Cindy LaMontagne, of Livermore; 18 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Tina LaMontagne Curtis Jan. 20, 2005.
