WEST PARIS – Dorothy McPherson, 87, of Rumford Point, died Thursday, Dec. 29, at the Ledgeview Living Center.

Born on Nov. 13, 1918, she was a daughter of Chesley and Clara (Farrar) Abbott. She was a graduate of Stephens High School with the Class of 1936. She was a member of the Rumford Point Congregational Church.

She was married in Rumford Point on June 11, 1938, to the late Robert A. McPherson, who died on Jan. 10, 1984.

Survivors include three daughters, Tena Godbois and her husband, Gary, of Rumford, Patricia Bean and her husband, David, of Rumford Corner, and Elaine Merrill and her husband, Dwight, of Bethel; eight sons, Robert A. and his wife, Elaine, of Rumford Point, Richard H. and his wife, Mary, of The Villages, Fla., Larry D. and his companion, Loretta Jones, of Milan, N.H., John H.of Rumford Point, Brian S. and his companion, Karen Chaisson, of Rumford Point, William L. and his companion, Pamela Nelson, of South Rumford, Daniel H. and his companion, Donna Holder, of Rumford Point, and Edward A. and his wife, Carrie, of Newry; one brother; Herman Abbott of Rumford Point; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Lane; a brother, Norman Abbott; and a special sister-in-law, Midge Abbott.
