NORWAY – Jim M. Bowie, 52, of Oxford, died unexpectedly at Stephens Memorial Hospital on Saturday, Dec. 10.
He was born in Lewiston on April 23, 1953, the son of Winfield Jr., and Sarah Harkins Bowie. He attended schools in Poland and Auburn, and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army.
He married Kathleen Foss on Dec. 2, 1972.
He had been proprietor of Bowie & Girlz Repair and Autobody in Oxford. For many years, he worked for various NASCAR race teams. He was also well-known as a NASCAR and PASS race official.
He loved family cookouts. He was a loving father and grandfather, always making everyone laugh.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kathleen of Oxford; his mother and father of Ireland; sons, Kris and his companion, Tammy Rice, and Scott, all of Oxford; daughters, Molly Palmer and her husband, Jeremy, of Mechanic Falls, and Meghan and her companion, David Toothaker, of Oxford; grandchildren, Kris, Katie and Kaven Bowie, all of Oxford, and Brianna Palmer of Mechanic Falls; brothers, Mike Bowie of Poland and Sean Bowie of Kennebunk; and a sister, Trisha Taylor of Ireland.
