LIVERMORE FALLS — Police are investigating the theft of five guns Tuesday from a home on Park Street in East Livermore.

The front door was forced open sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Wednesday.

The owner discovered the break-in and Officer Vernon Stevens investigated.

A gun safe was broken into and destroyed, Steward said. Three handguns, a Ruger, Glock and Taurus, and two rifles, a Ruger and a Remington, were stolen, he said.

The guns are valued at about $2,400. Damage to the door and gun safe is estimated at $250.
