LEWISTON – Irving S. Shaunesey, 88, of Empire Road in Poland passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born on July 11, 1917, in Lewiston, the son of Charles and Maude (Groves) Shaunesey.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater.

He worked for more than 40 years for Maine Oxy in Auburn. Later, he was employed with FISC of Lewiston for a few years before retiring.

He enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with his dog and particularly his family, and just puttering around. He was also a past member of the Civil Air Patrol.

He is survived by his daughter, Carole Gatchell and her husband, Herman, of Lewiston; son, Irving Jr. and his wife, Gloria, of New Hampshire; and their children, Bonnie, Kim and Amy; brother, Charles Shaunesey of Virginia; grandchildren Herman Jr. and wife, Ann, of Auburn, Kelly Procter and husband, David, of Massachusetts, Todd Gatchell and wife, Nancy, of Lewiston; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Chelsea Gatchell, Ashley Vlahakos, Samuel, Nathaniel and Benjamin Procter,

He was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor, in 1965, and his second wife, Marie, in 2001.
