WESTBROOK — A Lewiston man was one of three teenagers arrested last weekend and charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in a Westbrook motel.
Garang Majok, 19, was charged with gross sexual assault, along with two other males, 15 and 16, who are accused of raping the girl Sunday at a Super 8 Motel on Feb. 5.
The younger teens were taken to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland; Majok was being held at the Cumberland County Jail in Portland.
Westbrook police said in a news release that they were called to the motel on Larrabee Road at about 8 a.m. for a reported disturbance in the parking lot.
“The initial investigation by the responding patrol officers led to information that a sexual assault had occurred,” according to the release. “Detectives were called in to assist and further the investigation. The investigation found that a 16-year old female was sexually assaulted by three males in a room at the Super 8 Motel.”
Early reports were that the female knew her attackers, although police have not elaborated on the nature of that relationship.
The 16-year-old girl was said to be in the care of her family.
