LEWISTON — The Lewiston CareerCenter will host an orientation about an Office Certificate with Customer Service Specialty class at noon Tuesday, Feb. 21, at its 5 Mollison Way office.
Lewiston Adult Education will start the class on March 13, but requires students to attend the orientation and take a CASAS test. The 11-week class will be held at the B Street Community Center on 57 Birch St.
The goal of the program is to help students find entry-level office positions after they learn communications skills with a customer service focus and use a variety of computer skills. Data entry, Excel, email and Microsoft Office are among the programs covered.
Carla Maddocks graduated from the program in late 2016.
“This class has helped me regain confidence and assured me that I can obtain employment that will be satisfying and rewarding if I persevere,” she said.
To schedule a CASAS test, those interested may call Lewiston Adult Education at 207-795-4141. To sign up for the orientation, the Lewiston CareerCenter may be reached at 207-753-9000.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
