CANTON — Canton’s pre-Super Bowl party held Feb. 5 collected $1,800 earmarked for the town’s bicentennial celebration in 2021, Town Clerk Kathy Walker said on Tuesday.

About 60 people attended the event, where they enjoyed food from local organizations, including Region 9 School of Applied Technology Culinary Arts’ program, along with trivia games and door prizes.

Bicentennial committee members Walker, Phyllis Ouellette, Loretta Blancato and Julie Martin, along with members Liz Rothrock and Peg McCluskey who were not in attendance, have worked for months in preparation for this event, Walker said.

Members plan to hold more fundraisers between now and 2021. The committee’s goal is to match the funds appropriated by the town, as well as to raise funds to conserve and preserve the town’s vital record books, which document the incorporation of the town.
