FARMINGTON – Eleanor L. Cousins, 72, of Canton, formerly of South Carver, Mass., died Monday, Sept. 26, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, in the company of her husband and children.

She was born on April 17, 1933, a daughter of Merrick W. and Dorothea (Preston) Chapin. She graduated from Nashua High School in 1950 and Middlebury College in 1954.

A retired Carver Elementary School teacher, she enjoyed reading, gardening, her pets and spending time with her grandsons and other family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Alden E. Cousins, of Canton; a son, Richard C. Cousins of Canton; a daughter, Elizabeth C. Sylvia and her husband, Thomas E., and their children, Timothy and Christopher of Lakeville, Mass.; a brother, William D. Chapin and his wife, Julie, of Contoocook, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.
