LEWISTON – John Michael “Gleep” Gallant, 51, of Dolloff Street, Peru, died Thursday, Sept. 1, with his family by his side at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
He was born in Rumford on June 2, 1954, a son of Carl J. and Ruth (Campbell) Gallant, and attended Rumford schools.
He served as a private in the U.S. Army from June 1972 to April 1974. He was employed for several years for a sawmill in Greenville.
He was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, sports, fishing and loved his family.
Survivors include his parents, Carl and Ruth Gallant of New Port Richey, Fla.; a son, Jacob Gallant of Greenville; two brothers, Peter Gallant, and Michael Gallant and wife, Heather, all of Rumford; a sister, Jean Ryerson and husband, Mike, of Rumford; several nieces and nephews; and his companion, Marianne Hayford, of Peru.
