NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine, held in the Stephens Memorial Hospital Specialty Clinic building at 199 Main St., Norway, announces its April calendar.

The Center offers a variety of free programs to anyone impacted by cancer. Visitors are welcomed to stop by for information and to join in one or all of their activities.

This month, the Center is taking flower orders for its Flowers of Hope fundraiser until April 4. Order forms may be downloaded from their website and mailed with payment to P.O. Box 263, Norway, ME 04268, or people may stop by the Center on any Thursday or Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to place an order. Flowers will be available for pickup at the Center on April 13 and 14.

Free Reiki Session Clinic: 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 22, at the Norway Town Office located at 19 Danforth St., Norway. Anyone impacted by cancer may receive a free Reiki session at this clinic by calling the Center to reserve their time slot before April 14. Any open slots after that date will be open to the general public.

Banding Together to Restore: 11 a.m. to noon Mondays, April 3, 10, 17, and 24, at Richard Bader Physical Therapy, 176 Main St., Norway. The program, lead by Lori Britting, is focused on regaining motion and strength through guided instruction using stretching and colored Therabands. Each participant will be encouraged to work within their abilities that will safely gain their desired goals. Getting back energy and the ability to move easier and carry out daily tasks and enjoying life are part of this program. Preregistration is encouraged. People may register the day of class by arriving 15 minutes early. 

Yoga Warriors: 3 to 3:45 p.m. Wednesdays, April 5, 12, 19 and 26, at Posabilities, 15 Tannery St. This free gentle yoga class will support healthy living for individuals facing the challenges of cancer through gentle movement and breath, supportive restorative yoga postures, and guided mediation and relaxation. Preregistration is encouraged. People may register the day of class by arriving 15 minutes early.

Yoga for Wellness: 8 to 9 a.m. Fridays. Either Kat Larsen or Sherri will teach the class at the Center, which will include breathing, movement and relaxing meditation while seated or standing. 

Chair Yoga: 2 to 3 p.m. Fridays. Sherri leads the class in chair yoga. No mats are necessary; chairs are provided.

Walk and Talk with David: David will share his favorite walking routes. Times may be scheduled by contacting 207-739-7027. 

Guided Meditation Gathering: 1 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 12. Guided meditation promotes relaxation, which will lower stress. Using imagination, along with the five senses, participants may find themselves in a tranquil state that is rejuvenating. Susan Kane will lead the meditation.

Reiki 1 — Self Care: 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 25. Participants will learn to practice Reiki alone. Reiki 1 — Self Care will offer participants relief from some of the stress and discomfort they may be experiencing. Reiki complements the medical treatments prescribed by a physician. Charlotte LaBelle of Teresia Reiki will be the instructor. Individual sessions may be scheduled with LaBelle between 2 and 3:30 p.m. 

10 Tips for Health: Noon to 1 p.m. Monday, April 10. Kate Goldberg, community nutrition educator from Healthy Oxford Hills, will lead this fun and interactive class. Topics will include ways to increase fruits and vegetables in a diet, sharing recipes and taste testing, too. A light lunch will follow.

Stampin’ Up Tuesday: 2 to 3:30 P.M. Tuesday, April 4. Kathy will provide materials and instruction to make a variety of cards. 

Community Cancer Cut and Sew: 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, April 12 and 26, and 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Sew Orchid Design, 316 Main St. Participants cut out material for bonnets and other comfort items needed by the Center. Sewing kits are assembled for people to take home to sew or sew while in the class.

Fabric Crafting with Barbara: 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Sew Orchid Design, 316 Main St. Barbara Daigle is teaching a series of non-sewing or beginner sewing crafts for participants to complete.

Beading Project: Monday, April 24, at Lively Accents, 310 Main St. Cathy always has a fun project to do. 

Knitting and Crocheting: 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays. Participants can learn to knit or crochet, bring bring in a project or help us make hats for clients.

Coloring for Adults: 1 to 2 p.m. Thursdays, 1 to 2 p.m. Coloring books and a variety of markers are available.

Cards and Games: 1 to 2 p.m. Fridays. Various games are available at the Center to play or participants may bring one of their own to get a game started.

Drop-in hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Thursday and Friday. Volunteers are available to provide comfort items such as port protectors, wigs, hats, pillows or find resources. Pick up brochures or use the lending library. The Center is also a place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, chat with a volunteer or take personal time by participating in activities offered.

In case of inclement weather, activities sponsored by the Center are canceled when School Administrative District 17 cancels school.
