I was watching and listening to Donald Trump at a campaign-style rally in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 15. I noticed how happy and alive he seemed in front of his adoring followers. I couldn’t help but realize how unhappy and unnatural he seems in the White House. How often he seems to prefer going to his Trump Towers or one of his elite resorts in Florida. I wonder if he really likes being president. Maybe he really didn’t know what he was getting into. He seems to continue to need campaign-style rallies to keep his spirits up.
Trump remains a narcissistic personality and flawed individual, which means that his own psychological needs must be met first before the needs of the U.S. government. He remains crude and vulgar; he had bragged about grabbing a woman’s genitals. He once yelled “I’d like to punch him in the face” at someone attending a rally.
He has attacked the media, calling them the enemy of the people. Yet the media are ethically committed to the facts and the truth.
Rich Lowry, syndicated columnist, wrote, “Trump has rarely made a pretense of religiosity and has been incredulously overt in his vindictiveness and braggadocio” and spoke of his “stupid scheme” to build a wall between the USA and Mexico.
E.J. Dionne, Washington Post columnist, wrote “The 2016 Republican campaign was on track to be the most vulgar and most disgusting in our nation’s history.”
Is it time to consider impeachment?
