NORWAY – Florence “Flossie” Elizabeth Seames, 74, of Greenwood, died in Norway, Saturday, Aug. 20.
She was born in Woodstock, May 19, 1931, the daughter of Wendall and Alice (Felt) Roberts, and attended Locke Mills Elementary School and Woodstock High School.
She worked at Smith’s Shop and Save in South Paris as produce manager, Hathaway’s Country Store in Locke Mills and at Ekco Wood Products (Gilbert Manufacturing) in Locke Mills.
She married Stanley Seames on June 11, 1947, and they made their home in Greenwood, where she was a lifelong resident. Stanley died in 1985.
She retired nine years ago to enjoy her family and hobbies, and was active her entire life. She loved to fish, garden, pick berries and cook. She was known throughout the area for her cooking, especially her pies.
Her joy in life was taking care of her family and the special people in her life. Among the first to call when someone was ill, she often showed up at the homes of family and friends unannounced with goodies. Although never rich in material things, she believed she was extremely rich in family and friends. We are comforted by happy memories from the many years we had with her.
She is survived by a daughter, Evelyn Whitman of South Paris; a son, Raymond Seames of Greenwood; three sisters, Elsie Seames and her husband, Peter, of Greenwood, Nonie Cole and her husband, Carlton, of Greenwood, and Marilyn Howe and her husband, Wayne, of Woodstock; five brothers, Leslie Roberts and his wife, Georgiana, of Norway, Albert Roberts of Woodstock, James Roberts and his wife, Anne, of Fryeburg, Carl Roberts and his friend, Sylvia McNally, of Auburn, and Duane Roberts of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Donald Whitman and his wife, Susan, of Columbus, Miss., Lynn Cobb and her husband, James, of Newport News, Va., Dennis Whitman of South Paris, Laura Larriviere and her husband, Art, of Lewiston, and Sarah Seames of Brunswick; and great-grandchildren, Elsie and James Cobb, Megan Whitman, Katy and Abby Whitman, and Zander Larriviere.
She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Stanley, Philip and Kenneth; and a special daughter-in-law, Shirley.
