RUMFORD – Donna Wolters, 61, of Mexico, died Aug. 15, at Rumford Hospital after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer.

She was born May 5, 1944, in Portsmouth, N.H., a daughter of Frank Rain who survives of Dixfield and the late Marion (Fraser) Rain.

Former owner of the Village Gift Shoppe in Dixfield, she especially loved gardening, art and cooking. She was also a lover of bingo and the company of her card buddies. She had a wonderful gift of humor and making people laugh.

She is survived by her father, Frank Rain, and stepmother, Genie Rain, both of Dixfield; sister, Diane Carlton and husband, Dale, of Dixfield; brother, Rick Rain and wife, Julie, of Bow, N.H.; daughter, Deborah Allen and husband, Mark, of Hopkinton, N.H.; and three grandchildren, Katherine, and Aaron and Caroline Allen.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Wolters; and son, Wayne J. Kelloway.

Her family would like to thank the many friends and nurses for their tremendous support over the past few years. Her great care was a result of their support and love. Her family would also like to thank the wonderful oncology doctor at Rumford Hospital. Thank you for your great compassion and skill.

Friends and family will be gathering to remember Donna at the home of Dale and Diane Carlton, 16 Lancaster St., Dixfield, at noon on Saturday, Aug. 20. The family requests that donations made in her memory are made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086-1240.
