RUMFORD – Beatrice M. Beegan, 64, wife of Daniel H. Beegan, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born on Dec. 19, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Frederick W. and Mabel Richards of Roxbury Road, Mexico, and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1959.

She was a communications specialist for The Associated Press in Washington, D.C., until illness forced her disability retirement in 1986.

She was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Church in Mexico, until her illness prevented her from attending Mass.

She was a member of the Snowshoe Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Rumford as a result of her father’s combat service in the U.S. Army during World War I. She also belonged to AARP.

She was married in Augusta, on Aug. 6, 1977, to Daniel Beegan. Her husband, Daniel, their dog, Maeve, many cousins, and nieces and nephews survive her.

She also leaves special friends, Alan and Kelli Hayes of Beverly, Mass., and their children Connor and Shannon.
