LEWISTON – Alfred G. Stuart, 89, of Lewiston, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9, in Lewiston.
Born in Manhattan, N.Y., on Jan. 30, 1916, he was the son of Floyd and Catherine Smith Stuart. He attended New York schools and graduated from Haaren High School in 1934. He served in the armed forces and received a Purple Heart and five Battle Stars.
After the war, he was employed by the New York Central Railroad and the New York Elevator Co., as an electrical specialist.
“Mr. Allie,” as he was known by friends and family, enjoyed going out to area restaurants with his wife, tackling the most difficult crossword puzzles, working on house projects and of course watching football. Most of all, he loved being with family.
He is survived by his wife, Bernadette (Letalien) Stuart; a sister, Florence Dwyer of Copake Falls, N.Y.; and three stepsons, Henry Letalien and his wife, Diane, of Milton, N.H., Paul Letalien and his wife, Janet, of Portland, and Roger Letalien and his wife, Heidi, of Londonderry, N.H., and their families.
He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
