LEWISTON – Police late Friday were investigating reports that shots had been fired on Shawmut Street.
Police swarmed the area at about 9 p.m. One person was detained on nearby Pine Street, although it was not immediately clear if that person was connected to the reported gunfire.
Early reports were that there were no injuries.
Investigators taped off a section of Shawmut Street between Pine and Walnut streets as they investigated.
Some residents in recent days have complained that there has been drug activity in the area where the shots were reported.
The situation remained under investigation later Friday night.
