LEWISTON — Roger A. Girouard, 78, of Lewiston, passed away at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston on Monday, May 29, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Lewiston on September 8, 1938, a son of the late Alcide and Mariette (Ouellette) Girouard. He lived in Lewiston his entire life attending local schools and graduating from Lewiston High School. He then attended Central Maine Vocational School in Auburn, taking courses in the electrical field and as a machinist.
On September 7, 1964, he married the love of his life, Jeannine Duchette at St. Mary’s Church in Lewiston. Together they worked and raised their three children in this community. Roger was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Holy Cross Church. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, bowling and working beanos at St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Most of all, he enjoyed being involved in his many family events. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was well-liked by all who grew to know him.
Roger is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Jeannine; one son, Paul Girouard and wife, Lisa, of Lewiston; two daughters, Ann Marie Berube and husband, Raymond, of Lewiston, and Nancy Girouard-Holt and husband, Jeff, of Lewiston; nine grandchildren: Meghan, Makayla, Heather, Keith, Kelly, Jake, Michael, Samantha and Anthony; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Rita Wilson and companion, Ron Riggs, of Kansas; a brother, Rene Girouard and wife, Vicky, of Connecticut; and several in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Leo and Henry Girouard; and two sisters, Connie Michelle and Irene Henry.
