AUBURN – Dorothy Elizabeth Parker Ludwick, 95, died on July 13.
She was born on Nov. 22, 1909, in North Windham, to Dr. Charles F. Parker and Lizzie May (Harding) Parker. She was the loving and faithful wife of Crosby Loy Ludwick, who died in 1955, and the loving mother of Stephen E. Ludwick of Concord, N.H.
A resident of Auburn for 48 years, she maintained her own house until moving to the Schooner Estates Retirement Community in July 1999.
She graduated from Gorham High School in 1927 and Bates College in 1931, receiving an A.B. degree. She attended the University of Maine summer school program to further her education.
She was a teacher at the North Hampton High School in North Hampton, Mass., Rockland High School in Rockland, Crosby High School in Belfast, Webster Junior High School in Auburn and Walton Junior High School in Auburn, retiring in 1973. Her love of acting and production of school plays were recognized by many awards.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Auburn, the National Retired Teachers Association, the Maine Retired Teachers Association and the Auburn Art Club. She was especially proud to be a member of the Bates College Community, serving on the Reunion Committee and as a member of the College Key. She also served as the secretary, vice president and president of the Class of 1931, and was a faithful donor to the Bates Fund.
She is survived by her son, Stephen E. Ludwick and his wife, Donna, of Concord, N.H.; her grandsons, Jason Crosby Ludwick and his wife, Amy, of Lebanon, and Jason Tyler Ludwick of Manchester, N.H.; one great-grandson, Crosby Allen Ludwick of Lebanon; her sister-in-law, Marion Hewett and her husband, Russell, of Auburn; her niece, Betty Williams and her husband, Jack, of West Hartford, Conn.; her nephew, Charles Hewett and his wife, Jacqueline, of Holden; her niece, Martha Hewett and her partner, Linda Varvel, of Minneapolis, Minn.; her nephew, Peter DeVeber and his wife, Jean, of Stoughton, Mass.; her niece, Sharon Lorain and her husband, Michael, of Limington; and several great- and grandnieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Parker of Gorham; and her sisters, Ruth Anderson of Cromwell, Conn., and Pauline DeVeber of Stoughton, Mass.
