OXFORD — Multi-time track champion Shawn Martin of Turner put in a dominant performance on Friday evening, powering his way to victory in the 50-lap Super Late Model Trophy Dash at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Martin built a healthy lead early in the non-stop race, which took just under 14 minutes to complete. Martin’s margin of victory was more than two-and-a-half seconds over Super Late Model rookie Ryan Robbins of Dixfield.

Robbins, a former Mod division champion at Oxford, claimed his first trophy in the premier class after taking second position away from reigning champion Tim Brackett of Buckfield. Brackett held on for a third-place finish, a highlight in a disappointing season for the driver with four titles to his credit.

Anson’s Scott Moore raced to an impressive fourth-place finish. Andy Saunders, of Ellsworth, who won last Monday night’s Super Late Model feature, raced from dead-last on the 16-car grid to finish fifth in the caution-free affair.

Finishing sixth through 10th were TJ Brackett of Buckfield, rookie Calvin Rose, Jr. of Turner, point leader Alan Tardiff, of Lyman, Dennis Spencer Jr., of Oxford and Dixfield’s Scott Robbins. Martin and Saunders were triumphant in a pair of 12-lap qualifying races.

Tyler King of Livermore claimed his second victory of the season (first was May 7) in the 30-lap Street Stock feature. King used the outside groove to take control late in the race before outrunning Bridgton’s Bryce Mains to the checkered flag.

Championship points leader Billy Childs Jr., of Leeds, celebrated the arrival of his newborn twins with a last-lap charge into third position. Turner’s Matt Dufault led more than half of the race before Childs nipped him at the line for third. Mark Turner of Norway completed the top five.

Former Bandit division champion Shaun Hinkley of Oxford visited Victory Lane following his 20-lap, wire-to-wire triumph. Hinkley’s closest rival as the checkered waved was Oxford’s Chad Wills.

Reigning class champion Jamie Heath of Waterford was forced to settle for a third-place finish, hugging the inside line behind runner-up Wills while nursing a flat left rear tire. Auburn’s Brandon Varney finished in fourth, followed by Adam Sanborn of West Paris.

Eric Hodgkins of Minot outran all of his rivals in a Figure 8 race that was red-flagged when the car of Kyle Kilgore landed on top of points leader Tommy Tompkins at the intersection.

Hodgkins went on to victory over David Smith of South Paris and Lisbon’s Dale Lawrence. Tompkins bounced back to finish fourth, while Kyle Glover was fifth.

Polewarczyk wins PASS 150 at The Ridge

Joey Polewarczyk Jr., of Hudson, New Hampshire, outgunned reigning Pro All Stars Series (PASS) National Champion Ben Rowe of Turner on a pair of late-race restarts to claim victory in the PASS 150 Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough.

Polewarczyk took command on a lap-105 restart before fending off the challenges of 2016 Beech Ridge track champion Curtis Gerry of Waterboro and Hermon’s Mike Hopkins to seal the deal.

For Polewarczyk, it was the season’s first win after notching three victories on the PASS North trail in 2016. It ended a streak of rare mechanical gremlins that prevented him from finishing four races he led.

Rowe led the first 104 laps of the race before Pole took over and ended up in fourth position as the checkered flag waved. Windham’s Bobby Timmons completed the top five.

Windham’s Brad Babb raced with the contenders throughout the distance, finishing in sixth position. Current PASS North championship leader Glen Luce of Turner persevered though a tough night and earned a seventh-place finish.

Rounding out the top-ten were Travis Benjamin of Morrill, Garrett Hall of Scarborough, and reigning PASS North champion DJ Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire.

Andy Shaw raced to his first victory of the season in the 40-lap feature race for PASS Modified division. Shaw, of Center Conway, N.H., started from the seventh position and wasted little time getting to the front in a caution-free affair.

This was Shaw’s 30th career victory in the open-wheeled touring series, while Tinker’s runner-up finish snapped a five-race winning streak and is his worst finish thus far in 2017. Former class champion Scott Alexander of Glenburn filled out the podium, prevailing in a late-race battle over Bruce Helmuth.

Mark Lundblad Jr., of Conway, New Hampshire, rounded out the top five after starting 13th on the grid.

Childs claims Outlaw Mini 75 at Wiscasset

Leeds short track pilot Jimmy Childs, of Leeds, finally turned his 2017 season around on Saturday night with a victory in the 75-lap tilt for Outlaw Minis at Wiscasset Speedway.

Childs has endured mechanical failures and wrecks this season, unusual for the all-time Mini Stock win leader at Oxford Plains Speedway. The win was his second in this specific event and first win of the season. Jake Hendsbee finished second (his career-best finish in this class), while Tim Collins filled out the podium.

Other feature winners at the popular mid-coast speedplant include Joe Williams (Modifieds); Bryan Robbins (Strictly Streets); and Shane Clark (Late Model Sportsman).
