KENNEBUNK – Stephen E. Penney, 59, died Friday June 10, at the Riverside Nursing Home in Kennebunk.
Born in Rumford, on Jan. 26, 1946, he was a son of the late Willis and Katherine (Elliott) Penney. He was a graduate of Stephen’s High School and SMVTI.
He worked as a tool and dye maker for Clarostat in Norway until his retirement in 1987.
Stephen enjoyed fly-fishing at his camp at Howard Pond, spending time with his grandchildren, and woodcarving. He was known for his dry sense of humor.
Survivors include three sons, Wade Penney of Kittery, Doug Penney and his wife, Jenna, of Seabrook, N.H., Eric Penney and his fiance, Pam Planchetka, of Yorkville, Ill.; stepdaughters, Tina Hodge and her husband, Steve, of Dixfield, Carrie Colley and her husband, Michael, of Norway, Pam Fontaine and her husband, Jason, of Gray; brother, Arnold Penney and his wife, Christine, of Rumford; and a sister, Alice Stevens and her husband, Alvin, of Bethel; and several stepgrandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Dale, in 1990.
