PHILLIPS — A Connecticut woman received a leg injury Wednesday when she was ejected from the ATV she was riding after the it struck a stump beside a trail and rolled into its side, Lt. Tim Place of the Maine Warden Service wrote in an email Thursday.
Alison Menard, 53, of Wallingford, was operating her ATV from Rangeley to Phillips with two other individuals, Place wrote.
A member of the group stated that they were traveling at approximately 15 miles per hour when Menard hit a stump beside the trail with her ATV’s right-front tire.
This caused the ATV to roll onto its left side and Menard to be ejected. The ATV traveled a short distance farther before going off the trail and coming to a stop, Place wrote.
Menard suffered an injury to her left leg during the crash. She was wearing a helmet.
The crash occurred on an ATV trail a short distance from Reeds Mills Road. She was carried on a litter back to the road and a NorthStar EMS ambulance, according to Place.
“Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash,” he wrote.
Game Warden Kyle Hladik, Phillips Fire Department, a NorthStar crew, and a Franklin County sheriff’s deputy responded the accident, reported at 11:49 a.m.
