Night Tree, winner of the top award at the New England Conservatory of Music by unanimous vote, will perform at Temple Shalom, 74 Bradman St., Auburn, at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 16. Ranging in age from 19 to 27, the three young women and three young men play new acoustic music with Scottish, Celtic and Klezmer influences. There are two violins, a cello, an accordion, a cojon (percussion instrument from Peru), and a bari sax. Night Tree recently opened for the Celtic super-group SOLAS at the Portsmouth City Music Hall. A dessert reception will follow. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person.
