Peter Roberts has expanded his manufacturing plant in Industry from 6,000 square feet to 20,000 square feet in downtown Farmington. He received a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant that will help double the number of employees from 15 to 35 over the next year.
New machinery has been added in a $1 million investment, and Origin has merged forces with Jocko Industries.
Roberts, a New Sharon native who lives in Industry, is committed to manufacturing products made in the USA. Origin purchases cotton from Tennessee, weaves the fabric, and cuts and sews the final product in the factory, according to a news release.
Origin manufactures Brazilian jiu-jitsu lifestyle gear. The Pro Shop will carry the gear and other Maine-made products such as maple syrup.
