PARIS — A Farmington man accused of assaulting his former girlfriend and burning her clothes in Oxford, pleaded not guilty Wednesday afternoon to arson, eluding an officer and domestic violence assault.

Leslie Everett Jr., 39, was in Oxford County Superior Court for arraignment on nine charges, including obstructing the report of a crime, criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, driving to endanger and refusal to submit to arrest or detention.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges stemming from the May 6 incident.

According to an affidavit by Oxford Police Sgt. Alan Coffin, he responded to a home on Webber Brook Road where a woman said Everett lit some of her clothes on fire in a barrel in the driveway, hit her in the face and drove off with her children.

Police stopped him on Pikes Hill Road in Norway and subdued him with a Taser after he resisted arrest.

Judge Rick E. Lawrence ordered a conference on the case be scheduled.
