LEWISTON – Laurette C. Lanois, 73, of 57 Morse Ave., Lewiston, passed away on Friday, May 6, at d’Youville Pavilion.

Born in Rumford on Nov. 22, 1931, she was the daughter of Ferdinand and Claudia Cote. She was educated in local schools and worked as a shoe packer in many shoe shops.

She was a member of Holy Family Church and Our Lady of St. Anne’s. She married Romeo J. Lanois on Jan. 28, 1950, until his passing on March 10, 2002. She loved to knit, do search-word puzzles, camping and spending time with her grandchildren. Her most loved passion was taking care of the sick.

She is survived by her four daughters, Denise and husband, Richard Lachapelle, of Lewiston, Jacqueline and husband, Lynn Leger, of Lewiston, Rachel and husband, Maurice Gagne, of Lewiston, and Rita and husband, Paul Lemay, of Lewiston; one brother, Emile Cote of California; one sister, Anita and husband, Paul Bach, of California; 10 grandchildren, Lt. j.g. Jerry and wife, Terri Leger, of Milton, Fla., James and wife, Tina Lachapelle, of Lisbon, Travis Lemay of Lewiston, Kevin Lemay of Lewiston, Angel Lemay of Lewiston, Sheree Leger and fianc, Terry Jackson, of Massachusetts, Kevin and wife, Doreen Giguere, of Connecticut, Dorothy and husband, Brian Soucy, of Lisbon and Patricia and husband, Alan Cantin, of Monmouth; nine great-grandchildren, Bryce Leger and Tyler Leger of Milton Fla., Austin Lachapelle of Lisbon, Raymond Soucy, who is serving in Germany, Tony Soucy and Kelli-Ann Soucy of Lisbon, Tim Cantin and Matt Cantin of Monmouth, and Brooke Giguere of Connecticut.

She is predeceased by her husband, Romeo J. Lanois; her parents, Ferdinand and Claudia Cote; one son, Gerard Lanois; one grandchild, Anne Marie Lachapelle; and one sister, Venise Leger.
