Satellite Sky

Lying there face up

     as the stars deepened

Advertisement

we joked

     about

          whether the satellite

               slicing

the sky

     right to left

Advertisement

          like some cosmic

               Hebrew

sign

was taking

     our pictures.

As if on cue

Advertisement

     other-wordly

          moans

and almost-human

     wails

electrified

     the lake

Advertisement

calls

     from disembodied

          loons

invisible

     in the ink of night.
