LEWISTON – James Carroll Monk, 61, of Auburn, passed away Friday, May 6, at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, after a sudden illness.

He was born on July 5, 1943, in Lewiston, the son of the late C. Dana and Hilda (Smith) Monk. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1962, and attended Fort Kent Teacher’s College in 1963.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a 30-year employee of Pioneer Plastics in Auburn, working in the samples department. He most recently worked for Wal-Mart in Auburn.

He was a member of the Twelve Hour Club, and traveled around the country giving wonderful speeches.

He enjoyed camping at the family camp in Lincoln. He also enjoyed all sports.

He is survived by his mother of Auburn; a brother, John Monk and his wife, Diane, of New Hampshire; and girlfriend, Josephine Sanford of Milo.
