DIXFIELD — The town tax rate is increasing by $2.20 per $1,000 of assessed property value for 2017-18, Town Manager Carlo Puiia said.

The rate will go from $20.10 to $22.30, according to a vote by selectmen Aug. 14, Puiia said.

Taxes on a property valued at $100,000 that receives a $22,000 homestead exemption will be $1,739.40, an increase of $61.05.

In a related matter, Puiia said a townwide revaluation of all land and buildings is underway by John O’Donnell and Associates of New Gloucester, which did the last revaluation in 2008. Property owners should anticipate a visit by an authorized and properly identified member of the revaluation team.

Puiia said the work will be done over the next four to five months and the company will work around the schedules of townspeople.

Selectmen voted for the contract to include both an exterior and an interior valuation. The interior look is at the homeowner’s discretion.

Puiia said about 1,600 properties are to be assessed.
