MEXICO — Meroby Elementary School closed on its first day of school Wednesday due to vandalism that took place between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 5 a.m. Wednesday, Mexico Police Chief Roy Hodsdon said.

Principal Kim Fuller said she and staff were thankful that the community and the Mexico Fire Department came together Wednesday morning to offer support and to help clean up the damage. “The outpouring of support has been amazing,” she said.

The school plans to hold its first day of school on Thursday and will have a school-wide assembly at 1:30 p.m. to get students off to a positive start, Fuller said.
