CASTLETON, Vermont — Castleton University recently awarded local students. 

Dalton-Jesse Cummins of Winthrop was recently awarded the SGA Distinguished Service Award for the 2016-2017 academic year. This award is given annually for distinguished service in activities, and exhibiting abilities and qualities of leadership, conscientiousness, dependability and interest in the college community and its function.

Peter Michelsen of Winthrop was recently awarded the Alpha Psi Omega Honor Society Technician of the Year Award for the 2016-2017 academic year. This award is given annually to an upper class Technical Theatre and Design major who has shown willingness to go above and beyond what is asked and expected of students both in class and performances, is dependable and responsible, and has fostered passion for theatre through other students.

Alexa Fryover of Jay was recently awarded the Castleton College Academic Excellence Award in Theater Arts for the 2016-2017 academic year. The Academic Excellence Award is given annually to a student who is deemed the top student in his or her major.

BOSTON, Massachusetts — Shennah Derstine of Harrison was inducted into Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society.

Clinton, New York — Adelaide J. Fuller, daughter of Donald and Kimberly Fuller of Peru, was named the recipient of the Nelson Clark Dale, Jr. Prize in Music at Hamilton College’s annual Class & Charter Day on May 8.

The Nelson Clark Dale, Jr. Prize in Music was established in memory of Captain Nelson Clark Dale, Jr., USMC, Class of 1942, by his parents and is awarded to a student who has shown exceptional ability in music as a composer, interpreter or leader, or who has contributed most to the musical life of the College.
