LISBON FALLS — Lisbon Area Christian Outreach (LACO) is offering a HeartSaver CPR course at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, for pantry volunteers at the Durham Fire Station. The five-hour course, taught by paramedic Deputy Lisa Grove, includes certification cards upon completion.
“It is our goal to have at least one CPR-trained person on site when we distribute food and clothing. We want to be prepared for health emergencies,” said Bob Couture, LACO president, who was certified at the August CPR training course.
According to Pantry Coordinator Carol Day, 3,770 people and 1,445 families were served in the first seven months of 2017. With support from the Lisbon Community Federal Credit Union, LACO gave out 186 bags of food this summer to 431 children to replace school breakfasts, lunches and snacks.
Founded in 1985, LACO is a nonprofit organization that serves the Lisbon, Durham and Bowdoin communities. The food and clothing pantry is located at the rear entrance of the MTM Center on School Street.
