BANGOR – Annie Olive (Doherty) Blay, 86, passed away April 12, at Eastside Rehabilitation and Living Center, where she lived for the past 2 years.
She was born Nov. 22, 1918, and raised in Rumford by Mary and Peter Doherty. She graduated from Stephens High School.
She worked at the Rumford Paper Mill, where she met and later married Elbridge “Al” Blay and had five daughters. She was the last of eight siblings.
She is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Coffin and husband, Gary, of Mexico, Jane Blay of Dover-Foxcroft, Martha Russell and husband, John, of Carmel and Mary Blay and her lifelong partner, Joseph Russell, of Augusta; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Betty Bavineau.
She was predeceased by her husband, Elbridge Earl Blay; and second child, Theresa.
