LEWISTON – Judith G. “Judy” Veilleux, 58, passed away Saturday morning, April 9, after a very courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully in her sleep with her family by her side.

She was born in Ames, Iowa, on Jan. 16, 1947, the daughter of Colonel Walter A. Guild Jr. of Topsham, and the late Mimi L. Guild.

She spent the majority of her childhood abroad and was educated at Bleu Le Mon in Switzerland. As a graduate of Stevens College, Mo., she married Richard W. Collins of Auburn, and was mother to her three children, Kelly, Kevin and Kristen.

She ran a private day care for several years and was active in the community, heading a pro-police rally and march for the Auburn Police Department in 1985.

She went back to school years later at Mid-State College to study medical assisting and married Robert D. Veilleux of Lewiston in 1990.

For the last seven years, she worked as a dental assistant with the wonderful staff of Community Dental in Auburn where she was admired and loved by her co-workers and patients.

She loved cross country skiing, the ocean, sunflowers, and having fun with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Robert D. Veilleux; her children, Kelly, Kevin, and Kristen Collins; her grandchildren, Kastile Tuttle, Jacob Bazinet, and Kyle Bailey; her best friend and “sister,” Donna Bennett; her father and stepmother, Col. Walter A. Guild Jr., and Patricia Morrison Guild; her brother, Walter A. Guild III and his wife, Patricia Guild; and her brother, Peter Guild and his wife, Kathie, and daughter Chelsea Guild; mother-in-law, Rita Caron of Auburn; brother-in-law, Marcel Veilleux and wife, Cathy; three children of Auburn; sister-in-law, Monique LaPierre and husband, David, three children and two granddaughters of Biddeford; sister-in-law, Lolita Lambert and husband, Steve, and two children from Greene.

Judy was a great wife, a wonderful mother and grandmother, and a true friend to many.
