The upcoming election in Lewiston is about electing a mayor who will bring a vision to improve the city. The community needs new ideas that have positive impact for all residents.
Mayoral candidate Ben Chin has progressive ideas. He has always advocated for justice and fairness for all. He has been one of the leaders on many issues — code enforcement, raising the minimum wage, reducing the property taxes — while fighting for better school funding from the state, voter rights, lowering the cost for prescription drugs, etc.
He is a great listener. Property tax continues to be the No. 1 issue for seniors and families. Businesses talk about the “rain tax,” an issue that should be revisited.
The LA Metro Magazine “40 under 40” 2016 listed Chin as a rising professional in Lewiston.
Lewiston needs a mayor who will also be an ambassador for Lewiston.
Ben Chin will have my vote on Nov. 7.
Diane Grandmaison, Lewiston

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
