FARMINGTON – Pearl E. Murphy, 72, of North Jay, died Monday morning at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

She was born in Lewiston, April 4, 1932, a daughter of Irene Levesque and Rosana Carter. On June 20, 1948, she married James Murphy Sr. She worked as the first head cook at the new Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, and also as activities director at Franklin Manor in Farmington. She enjoyed puzzles, crafts, games, bird-watching, and her family.

She is survived by her husband of Jay; a daughter, Linda Douglass and her husband, Jerry, of Lisbon; sons, Hale and his wife, Donna, of Centreville, Ala., and James Jr., and his wife, Rachel, of Jay; two sisters, Mona Pratt and her husband, Jim, of Farmingdale, and Susie Rollins and her husband, Stanley, of Chesterville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph.
