BRUNSWICK – James C. Coutts Jr., 77, of Harpswell Islands Road, Harpswell, died Thursday, Feb. 17, with his family by his side.
He was born in Auburn, Sept. 20, 1927, the son of James C., and Beryl (Butterfield) Coutts Sr.
He grew up in Auburn and moved to Danbury, Conn., where he worked for Amphenal. After retiring, he moved back to Maine in 1990.
He enjoyed the New England Patriots and Nascar racing.
Survivors include two brothers, Carl Coutts and his wife, Joyce, of Holden, Robert “Buckey” Coutts and his companion, Dolley Eastman, of Poland; one sister, Louann Burns and her husband, Robert, of Auburn; his first wife, Christine Miles Coutts, mother of his four children; that include two daughters, Judith Withers of Lewiston, Cynthia Greenlaw and her husband, David, of Mechanic Falls; two sons, Richard “Butch” Coutts and his wife, Fran, of Limestone, and Douglas Coutts of North Carolina; one stepson, Carroll Trip; and three stepdaughters, Sandra O’Brien, Bonnie Boardman, and Patty Tripp; also several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well his extended family who cared for and loved “Jim”; Elizabeth and Paul Hamel and Lee Tyler.
