AVON PARK, Fla. – Deane Cowles, 83, died Monday, Feb. 14.

Born June 5, 1921, in Auburn, he married Geraldine Phelps on Nov. 27, 1943.

He was a member Bethany Baptist Church after moving to Avon Park, Fla.

He is survived by his wife, Gerry; two daughters, Mrs. William (Carole) Cook and Mrs. Robert (Brenda) Crown of Avon Park; a son, Gerald and wife, Wendy Cowles; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sons, Richard in 1948, and Alfred in 1997.
