BRIDGTON – Katherene Bresette Saunders, 78, died Monday, Jan. 7, at the Bridgton Hospital, following a long series of medical complications, and a brief stay at the Fryeburg Health Care Center.

She was a member of the Fryeburg-Lovell VFW Auxiliary, and often stated that the women of that organization were her “sisters.” She also enjoyed caring for children in her home and at the Center Lovell Church on “Parents Night Out.” Although she lived part of her life away from the area, she considered Lovell her home and returned here after her husband’s death.

She is survived by seven children, daughters, Nancy, Lorraine, Dee, and Brenda; three sons, John, Fred, and Shawn; her brother, Dexter; aunt, Pat; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Granville, who passed in 1987; and by their oldest son, Harvey, who passed in 2003. She was also preceded by her brother, Norman; her brother, Mervin; her sister, Doris; and several nieces and nephews.
