LEWISTON – Lionel R. Godbout, 66, of Center Minot Hill Road in Minot, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon at Central Maine Medical Center with his family at his side.
He was born in Augusta, July 1, 1938, a son of Romeo and Lucille (Giroux) Godbout. He was educated in Auburn schools and was a lifelong resident of this area.
On May 17, 1958, he married the former Lennice Harris. He worked 25 years at General Electric in Auburn, until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He was very family oriented and also always ready and willing to help others. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp in Andover.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Lennice, of Minot; two daughters, Daphne Selph and husband, Tony, of Rosedale, Md., and Debora Dennison and husband, Bob, of Limington; two sons, David Godbout and wife, Marcia, of Hebron, Ky., and Daniel Godbout of South Paris; eight grandchildren, Hannah Selph, Joseph Dennison, Tiffany, Danielle and Leah Godbout, Ethan Godbout, and Robert and Jess Dennison; a sister, Gloria White and husband, Bob, of Gardiner; and a brother, Larry Hunt and fiancee, Fran Christenson, of Los Angeles, Calif.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, David Hunt.
