LEWISTON – Gloria M. Woodhead, 80, of 45 Googin St., passed away on Dec. 22, at d’Youville Pavillion after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Lewiston, June 13, 1924, she was the daughter of Samuel and Eugenie DeMers. She was educated in Lewiston schools, graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy, South Berwick, and attended Oklahoma State University.

A lifelong resident of Lewiston, she worked as a homemaker, a timekeeper at Bath Iron Works during World War II, an elementary school librarian, and as a volunteer for St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was a lifelong member of the St. Joseph’s Parish. She was also a member of the Queen’s Guild, a Eucharistic Minister and sang with the St. Joseph’s funeral choir.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Edward A. Woodhead; seven children, Gregory Woodhead, Arlington Virginia, and Stephen Woodhead, all of Wells, Mark Woodhead of Portland, Pamela Woodhead of Auburn, John Woodhead of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Valerie Robertson of Johnson City, Tenn., and Jane Jawor of Auburn; four grandchildren; and brother, Leo DeMers of New York.

She was predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Hurley.
