PORTLAND — James A. Randall passed away in the early morning hours at Portland Maine Medical Center on Saturday, Sept. 9. He had finally succumbed to the failing health he was surviving with.

He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 8, 1940, the son of Charles H. and Carola (Bogdahn) Randall. He attended schools in Lewiston and Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School. He was in the Navy service for two years.

After the service he advertised insurance products for many people for several years. Then he was the proud owner of the Auburn Novelty Shop for 25 years. He enjoyed selling prankster items and costumes to all his customers who came into the shop. After that he worked for an Augusta oil company, Augusta Fuel & Plumbing, for almost 20 years and then retired from them. He provided several years with hours of work with the United Way of Kennebec Valley and he continued to work part time for Aerus Environmental Division and Northeast Dealer Supply. He truly loved being a part-time worker and meeting all the people he dealt with.

He appreciated snowmobiling in Eustis and has so many friends from there. He loved going to car shows, antique and brand new, especially the car show at Fast Eddies Restaurant every Wednesday. He would take boats out on Cobbosee Lake and enjoy the time spent there. He also loved going out in the ocean with his son and the boats Charlie had. He always got so much out of life by snowmobiling, riding in boats, and seeing the many places he traveled through in Maine.

He is survived by his second wife of 19 years, Linda Hallet, of Readfield; two brothers, Bill Randall and his wife, Jan of Auburn, David Randall and his wife, Mary-Ellen of Florida; one sister, Marcia Stuart of Florida; and four children, Charlie Randall of Scarborough, Robin O’Connor and her husband, Tim of Bowdoinham, Penny Randall and her partner, Leslie Reed of Virginia, Heidi Randall and her husband, Mark Murrell of Yarmouth. He had 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren whom he loved so much.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Carola Randall; and a sister, Lizabeth Dawson of Bristol.

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Portland Maine Medical Center. They did so much to make the time he had there easier to accept.
