CANTON – Arthur H. Manzer Sr., 73, of Dixfield, died Sunday, Nov. 21, at Victorian Villa, Canton, where he received wonderful care since moving there in April of this year.

He was born on Feb. 11, 1931, in Andover, a son of Fancis L. and Melvina (Delmonte) Manzer.

He attended local schools and received his GED in Rumford.

He was a member of the National Guard and will be remembered as a good-natured, hard-working man who dedicated his life’s work to working in the woods of the Western Maine Mountains that he called home.

He was a hunter and especially cherished times spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lula Marie (Blodgett) Manzer, of Dixfield; sons, Arthur H. Manzer Jr., “Rocky” and wife, Cindy, of Peru, and John Crawford and wife, Lucille, of Dixfield; daughter, Nancy Doughty and husband, Bruce, of Moreno, Calif.; two sisters, Cynthia Stevens and husband, Joseph, of N.H., and Jesse Rivard, of Lewiston; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
