LEWISTON – Rene Giguere, 85, died from natural causes on Oct. 5, at d’Youville Pavilion, Lewiston. His son, John, was by his side.

Rene was born in Lewiston, the son of Lucien and Muguette Giguere.

Mr. Giguere had resided at d’Youville over the past seven years. Prior to returning to Maine, Rene had lived on a canal on Little Kerr Lake in Salt Springs, Fla. from 1985-1993.

He had been a member of Local 716, Plumbers and Pipefitters Union since 1953.

Rene was a sportsman who enjoyed baseball and the Boston Red Sox, hockey, and he was an avid fisherman. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved children and youth alike. Along with being a coach, Rene was instrumental in helping to build the first Little League baseball fields at the L-A airport.

Rene’s greatest love and passion was his camp on the Spring Road at Lake Auburn where he would spend time on the screen porch overlooking the lake, reminiscing about all the fish he had caught over the years.

Rene’s spouse, Germaine Bolduc, died in 1984.

He leaves a daughter, Patt Courtemanche and spouse, Anthony, of St. Louis, Mo., and their children Amanda, Molly, Hannah, and Max; a son, John and spouse, Joyce Giguere, of Wilton, and their children, John Caton, of Phillips, and significant other, Donn Coffren and their son, Chad; Dane Caton, of Dixfield, and significant other, Jennifer Clough, and their daughter, Destiny; Eugene Caton, of Phillips, and spouse, Mary and son, Vincent; several nieces and nephews, including Roland Metivier, of Seminole, Fla., and spouse, Christina, and their children, RJ and Mikhaila.
